Today is the launch of my new StyleMom feature, providing you helpful tips and inspiration so you can look and feel your best. I’ll profile moms who not only manage to get showered and dressed in the morning (often an accomplishment for me), but also have a great sense of style.
Some women look like they have celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe outfitting them everyday. I, on the other hand, tend to choose what’s clean and doesn’t require ironing. I would love to walk out the door feeling comfortable, confident, and put-together.
So, thanks to a pool of talented photographers (Stefan Studer, Mindy Veissid, Samantha Walker, Sophia Pagan and more to join) in L.A., New York, Vancouver, and Paris, I’ll showcase some mommies who will motivate you and me both to find our inner supermodel.
“Be an artist in your own closet. Go in after your kids go to bed and think about what you can create and what can be cool.” – Heather Drake
Home: Pasadena, California
Children: 11-year-old boy & 9-year-old boy/girl twins
Occupation: She’s a full-time mom, who takes pride in the fact that she commits two hours everyday to keeping her house clean and makes her family dinner almost every night. Yet, Heather is also an entrepreneur who spends her free-time launching and marketing new businesses.
How does she look so damn good? When her children were small, Heather walked her threesome in a triple jogger for two hours everyday. She trained the kids to stay in the jogger for the duration with short breaks for the bathroom, snacks, and walkabouts. Today, she works out five times a week. Two days are focused on the Cardio Barre and three days on CATZ (Competitive Athletic Training Zone)
What’s she wearing?
Blouse: 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent
Belt: Linea Pelle
Shoes: Pour La Victoire
Rings: Robert Shaw
Glasses: Dita “Flight”
Bracelets: CC Skye
Her Style: “I rely on Courtnay Page, who owns two great boutiques (Therapy & EG Page) in California and one (Naturals) in Oregon, for recommendations. She has a great eye and knows my style. I’m most comfortable in my jeggings, a big boyfriend sweater, and Fiorentini & Baker boots. She takes my tom-boy style and gives it a feminine twist.”
