This week’s StyleMama is taking on the world – literally! Fang Wu has a goal of visiting every country around the globe! A full-time mother and student, she has made progress in this endeavour, having visited 39 countries and 153 cities. A few days after we spoke, she was making her way to Mongolia. There seems to be no deterring this young mother, whose favorite country so far is Bhutan, due to the purity of its people and the seemingly untouched nature of the country. While some mothers might be wary at the prospect of traveling with children, Fang says that while she would never bring her son to a country that would be unsafe, it is important to remember that children are resilient and will benefit from being exposed to different cultures. That being said, she and her husband often enjoy short trips together, because “a healthy couple relationship is the number one ingredient to a happy family.”
Home: New York City
Children: One 2-year-old son
Occupation: Full-time student. After leaving the world of investment banking, Fang has gone back to school to obtain her Masters Degree in International Affairs. She is planning to move back to Asia with her family shortly and hopes to work in the fashion industry.
How does she manage to look so darn good?
Fang believes that it is important for a woman to feel like a woman 24/7 and that taking the time to treasure oneself and recuperate when necessary is key. She doesn’t let her status as a mom limit her sense of style and love of great clothes. She regularly goes out with her husband and friends and attributes her ability to do so to the set schedule she has for her son. She does yoga a few times a month, but her interests lie more in the area of snow boarding and scuba diving. Although life in NYC isn’t conducive to these sports, her jaunts abroad allow her to partake in these activities quite often.
What’s she wearing?
Dress: Collaboration between Pendleton & Opening Ceremony
Shoes: Christian Dior
Ring: Van Cleef & Arpels
Bracelet: An independent French designer in the Alphabet district in Manhattan
Bag: Bottega Venetta
“I really never thought I had a style, but my friends all tell me it is very unique. I’m very brave with colors and shape. I’m happy to mix interesting silhouettes and texture. Sometimes it’s bubbly, crazy, and funky.” -Fang Wu
