This week’s StyleMama, Angela Mavridis, believes a gorgeous bag and a great pair of heels can pull together your look, but your best accessory is your confidence. She says, “Confidence comes from being comfortable in who you are.” Angela adds that everyone wants her time and energy on a daily basis from her 3 kids to her husband to her lovable dog, but she makes a point to invest time in herself. “I make it a priority to take care of my well-being and my continuous commitment to clean eating and daily workouts has paid off. I feel better now, physically and mentally, than I did when I was in my 20s and I’m comfortable being me and not trying to be someone else.”
Home: Pasadena, Ca
Children: Two boys who are 7 & 3, and one girl who is 6.
Occupation: Full-time Mom
Angela left a successful career in the fashion world after her second child was born. In her former life, she worked for W magazine in the US and Greece and launched two retail stores, selling shoes and maternity clothes. Her priority now is her family and making sure she can have everyone around the dinner table for a healthy home cooked meal.
How does she look so damn good?
Angela was an avid runner until a few years ago, when she realized running was too hard on her knees. While she retired the running shoes, she still exercises Monday thru Friday. Right now, she alternates between a 2-3 hour road bike ride and weightlifting in the gym. As for her eating regime, she starts every morning with a green protein smoothie with spirulina, kale, protein powder, and a variety of fruit. She follows a simple clean diet philosophy: eat real food, not too much, mostly plants, whole grains, and fish. She applies this advice to to her family too, and stays away from cooking and eating anything that is too processed.
What’s she wearing?
Clutch : Chanel
Ring: Ilias Lalaounis
Dog: Braque du bourbonnais (Tonga)
“I’m in my workout clothes during the day, but any chance I get, I like to dress up. For me, a good hair blow-out and high heels translates to instant glamour. I was born in Greece and spent a lot of my summers there, so I’m not afraid of adding some European flair and incorporating color, prints, and patterns into my wardrobe. I love buying clothing and accessories when I’m abroad as you can find more original pieces, that no one else has. I usually don’t go with the latest trend, but pick pieces with more staying power. For me, fit is equally important and I prefer clothes that are form fitting and flattering, with the exception of long, flowing maxi dresses which are so feminine. My favorite designers are: Gucci, Dolce and Gabbanna, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Roberto Cavali, Elizabeth and James, Tibi, and L’Agence. Los Angeles has some great boutiques around Roberston and Beverly Blvd., but when I don’t have time, I rely on my online sites: Net-a-porter, Shopbop, and of course Saks, Neimans, and Nordstrom.” – Angela Mavridis
